Operra · the knowledge infrastructure for essential services

give essential services sight.

The utilities that keep water, sanitation and waste running across the Global South operate on data they can’t see. We give it shape — and put AI in the hands of the people who keep cities alive.

A shared knowledge infrastructure — owned in the South, built to last.

the data is already there. they just can’t see it.

— and that is exactly where operra starts

give it shape — and they see.

what one utility’s AI surfaced in its own data:

2,000
inactive meters
lost revenue
35%
miscategorised complaints
service inefficiency
3
sludge trucks dumping off-site
illegal dumping, polluted water

what we do — keep them seeing.

Three moves, one outcome.

give sight

structure & train

We give a utility’s raw data its shape — then train its team to read it with AI, on their own data, not a slideshow.

share sight

publish

Every lesson becomes open knowledge: living maintenance frameworks any operator can reuse, in their language.

sustain sight

stay

A sector AI assistant keeps answering, templating and cleaning data long after the training ends.

Cost to the utility: a smartphone and an internet connection.

this isn’t a promise. it’s already running.

Operators are already seeing — and the ecosystem already exists.

independent by design

Founded by Sparkoper — and structured so that never compromises it. Operra is a legally independent endowment fund (fonds de dotation); the overlap is governed, not hidden:

  • Board majority independent — the founder has no veto.
  • Founder recuses from any Sparkoper-related vote.
  • Any Sparkoper service invoiced at market rate.
  • Accounts certified by an independent auditor.
  • Trains on AI in general, not Sparkoper products — utilities stay free to choose any provider, and their data is reused only with their consent.

Your investment advances SDG 6 (water and sanitation) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities) — measurable in real time, not in a three-year report.

the horizon

by 2035, every utility that can see its data, will.

Trillions of dollars are already in the ground — pipes, plants and networks that underperform because they run blind. Operra is the missing piece that makes them perform. The Global South won’t catch up on operational AI; it will lead — on its own data, on its own terms.
